Shatner is the only Kirk…yep.
Jonas Brothers show better than I expected (ratings ok); girls strong…a bit too much Nick’s so serious about girls. Mostly harmless.
Caught “The Penguins of Madagascar” tonight — much better animation debut for me than Iron Man…some very funny bits and I like the way the penguins move. But could tire of it very fast. Did make me laugh though.
Also caught first animated clip of The Princess and The Frog on the Disney Channel…looked nice, but thought the frog might have sounded a bit Pepe Le Pew, but too quick for anything to really register…apparently, they’re going to run a preview during this Saturday’s Wizards of Waverly Place. Speaking of Wizards, the silent movie homage this past week was great…more physical comedy, please. And thank you.
iCarly movie coming up (iDate a Bad Boy) and iGo Japan rebroadcast next Monday (5/11)…apparently iCarly is the kid plus tween ratings ruler of the moment. Based on iGo Japan, looking forward to iDate (and I’ll be needing a break from Shakespeare).
That does it for now…good night.
P.S. On a me note, I miss having the Blink Kitty Love site to mess around with lyrics and music and such…started the redesign, Tammy took over and it’s pink…oy.

Have discovered the local library (libraries rock) stocks Scott Pilgrim graphic novels and so am catching up on the craziness that is dating Ramona Flowers, fighting her evil ex-boyfriends and being part of Sex Bob-Omb. And it is great and crazy and funny and familiar in a way that has nothing to do with anything (well, maybe one evil ex-boyfriend fight) that ever happened to me (and maybe if I’d stayed in Toronto a little longer) and I love it in a messy, unkempt really need a good haircut way. And the art gets tighter as the series continues…The movie should be interesting.
Bandslam got a small blurb in the Entertainment Weekly Summer Movie issue so that’s more buzz.
And to segue from a Vanessa Hudgens movie to a Zac Efron one, 17 Again is the top movie for the weekend with 24.1 million dollars projected box office. We saw it on Friday (Flash is throwing mad miffy face at any mention of the Hannah movie so we’re waiting for the DVD). Not bad, not funny, and a bit messagey for me, but good roles for Matthew Perry and Leslie Mann, solid performances from Sterling Knight, Michelle Trachtenberg and the man all over the posters, Efron. But very, very clunky in places (long speeches to indicate Efron’s character was actually a Dad not working)…and Josie Lopez seems to be popping up suddenly, here and next Friday on the Disney Channel’s Hatching Pete.
My nine year old niece’s favorite Jonas brother is Kevin, she loves Camp Rock, she saw the 3-D Burning Up movie, she has the date and time of the Jonas show premiere memorized and yet even after this PR push, I can’t say I’m looking forward to it (and I loved The Monkees show, at least until I watched the episodes recently On Demand)…the more clips I see, the more forced the humor seems, although Gayle and I agree, Kevin looks like he’s having the time of his life. I wish them well (I, Jobot aside), but fear they may discover comedy is harder than it looks.

Last Chance Harvey — rent it, see it…Dustin Hoffman amazes — he finds new emotions somewhere; Emma Thompson charming; good good show.
Cars — finally watched it…some nice moments, racing very cool; scenery pale compared to the real stuff (animation can’t do sunlight+scenery). Still mired in the Pixar mawkishness.
Sonny With A Chance — funnier the second time and continuing. Disney shows hit 6-8 on the consistency scale while with Nick you’re more likely to get either 3 or a 9.
If you haven’t watched my BOOKS + INSPIRATION clip, you should. I had a lot of fun doing it and may think up some more short form topics (considering voice).
iCarly — iLook Alike a fun concept, but too out of character with Spencer getting trashed against a wall…
Hannah Montana — but we like Joannie, but Oliver would never keep a girlfriend so well, bring her back occasionally. Looking forward to the movie; The Climb still great.
Been watching What I Like About You (Beau’s fault)…early seasons better; jennie Garth actually pretty good with the physical stuff but her character gets annoying later.
Speaking of Nick and The N — yes, I do miss Radio Free Roscoe.
Still reading the Financial Times, although dropping The Economist because of time + money constraints, craving Indian food and planning for the start of The Miser.
Finished a Jonas Brothers themed Blink Kitty Love(yes, and you’ll laugh), listening to Radio Jonas on Radio Lonelypond on last.fm (Demi Lovato — Party currently up).
Have been trying to build up Radio Blink Kitty Love (thank you last.fm for your excellent widgets), but it gets a bit grim at times and I miss Radio Lonelypond.
Twitter still rocks. Trying out a Dwarven hunter and a Tauren druid in World of Warcraft — like the hunter better…always wanted to be Robin Hood.
Not reading enough…or writing…rented the new Wonder Woman movie, need to watch it tomorrow or I’ll own it. Still haven’t watched Steamboy…really need to budget NetFlix in…
Going to watch 2nd The Parent Trap soon…sad for Natasha Richardson’s family; like the first version better, but thought she + Dennis Quaid did an excellent job w/ imperfect script.
Good night, my friends. Take care of yourselves.

Warning this post will contain comments on World of Warcraft and the Jonas Brothers and The Watchmen (should I call it meditations on popularity and the attacking hordes?) If any of these disturb you, please enjoy this Shakespeare themed cartoon.
Jonas Brothers 3-D movie opened up but not as big as anyone hoped. I won’t be seeing it but not for a lack of liking the Jonas Brothers, just a lack of liking screaming. Here’s a fun, funny article from a journalist who flew with them to an Atlanta visit. I prefer fictional band movies — A Hard Day’s Night, for example. At least one reviewer found Beatles infuence in the Burning Up movie. The brothers in rock seem to bring out good moods in some of the journalists covering and reviewing them; that can’t be a bad thing. Especially with an upcoming TV series to promote. My favorite Jonas Brothers song — well, I like the Hold On video where the whole house blows away around them — but if you read this blog at all, you’ll know that sort of thing appeals to me. And I do occasionally worry about that. And Gayle frequently reminds me of the list of things I’m not supposed to do to the house while shooting any of the movies or animations.
Can’t figure out if any of the Blink Kitty Love members would listen to the JoBros…they’re arm wrestling/lawn darting over the issue right now. Stayed tuned.
(and yes, we are currently listening to Radio FlashCatFlash on last.fm, which is tuned to Radio Jonas.)
The Burning Crusade…yes, I hit level 60 and yes, I decided to try the free trial and spent two of my most frustrating nights so far of WoW. Took me 10 tries to figure out the Shatter Point bombing runs — try the aerial view and ignore the REALLY BIG guys. There are NO trees; I like trees. And now I’m 1 point away from level 61 (and the level 61 quest Beau wants to do) and although I keep wracking up the experience, it won’t actually breach the next level. So when I tried the pay for your upgrade online option, I got error message 202, call customer service. Customer service was quite willing to take my money over the phone and I’m hoping the leveling glitch sorts itself out. I’ve switched from a holy paladin to a retribution paladin because first level 60 plus group, well, we kept getting jumped by three groups at once and our tank didn’t tank. But my hit points always did because I was healing other people and not paying attention to me. And also, there were the horde players who would appear behind me and hacking/blasting away. So much fun. So I’m switching to a ret paladin (see, I almost sound like I know what I’m doing), read a couple of guides — one to legal hacks so I’m thinking of trying MazzleUI to see if I can find a better interface. Right now, I’m logged out in Exodar — pretty cool, very empty auction house — where my newly respecced paladin is waiting for the next session when my brother shows up with some good gear for me (I’m saving for a charger). The Burning Crusade so far only makes me long for a colder ale at the end of the night.
The Watchmen –see previous post — for why I’m not watching it and why you should watch The Shadow. Here’s the New Yorker’s Anthony Lane reviewing it, which alters my opinion not a whit but goes into detail (graphic, be warned) about the movie, since he’s seen it– and more importantly, reviews “Leave Her To Heaven,” comparing it tangentially to The Watchmen and leaving Gayle with a watch Gene Tierney do ruthless urge. The Netflix account is becoming inevitable.
Oh, and for those waiting for my “Girl Who Leapt Through Time” review, I haven’t been able to track down a copy yet; apparently, I didn’t nag little brother #2 enough when he came out to see Henry V, which I still need to write a review of (short version: stirring, company more suited to comedy than command.)
Enjoy your weekend.

Looking at EW’s(and no, the title is not a misspelling) Entertainer of the Year issue and Robert Downey, Jr. is #1…granted he’s had an impressive year, but Tina Fey not only impacted an election, but she revived Saturday Night Live, giving it buzz it hasn’t had in years. I was interviewing a storyteller for an unrelated article and he threw in an “awed by Tina Fey” comment. EW readers voted Fey #1 and I think the editorial staff should have stuck with them instead of dropping her to #2. Blame it on a bias against writers or a predilection for pretty boy faces on the cover (Robert Pattison — Twilight– is in the rising stars photo shoot and Kristin Stewart isn’t)and bad boy does good stories between the covers, but I think Fey deserved the top dog spot.
Interesting to try to picture a Guy Ritchie, Robert Downey, Jr., Jude Law and Rachael MacAdams Sherlock Holmes though — with an emphasis on the kung fu moves…hmmm.
And the strangest when world’s collide moment — Chris Martin of Coldplay enthusing about wanting to play banjo on a Miley Cyrus song as the opposite cool thing he could do after collaborating with Jay-Z. Miley should catch him while he’s in this mood.
And now I have the Jonas Brother’s(#9 entertainers) “Love Bug” in my ear again; time to go back to sports.
Didn’t keep the Entertainment Weekly subscription; I don’t want to read about Mad Men and Twilight and Heroes and then have to stare at their faces on the recycling pile. I like to keep it for light reading at the alternate office. Although, I might spend a bit more time exploring their website.
I find the Very Short List gives me an interesting one shot a day assortment of entertainment and other news.
On a Coldplay note, I think you could listen to the amazing “Viva la Vida” for days and create universes.
