I WON’T DANCE

February 10, 2009

“You know what, you’re lovely…”

Blossom Dearie died Saturday, great singer who had one of the coolest names for jazz ever. One of my favorite Blossom songs: I Won’t Dance. Part in French, very nice. Also one of my favorite Fred Astaire songs, Roberta apparently rescued it from obscurity with new lyrics by Dorothy Field and Jimmy McHugh, bumping Oscar Hammerstein II and Otto Harbach from the lyrics; Jerome Kern wrote the music (acc. to wikipedia).
